This Privacy Policy explains how Vie collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile application, and related services.

This policy describes the data practices of the current Vie iOS app and the Vie website. Vie is designed to keep the personal content used for distraction control on your device while collecting a limited set of pseudonymous analytics from eligible app builds.
We do not sell personal information or use Vie data for targeted advertising.
Vie stores your goals, tasks, notes, focus activity, blocked-app selections, and the opaque Screen Time or Family Controls tokens needed to enforce those selections locally on your device. Some of this data is shared only among the Vie app and its iOS extensions through an on-device app group so the blocking experience can work.
Vie does not send the text of goals, tasks, or notes, blocked-app names or selections, model identifiers, or Screen Time tokens to PostHog or Sentry. Apple controls the underlying Screen Time permissions and supplies app-selection tokens to Vie; Vie cannot use those opaque tokens to read the content of the selected apps.
On a physical device, Release builds of Vie, including builds distributed through TestFlight, start PostHog usage analytics by default. Debug builds, simulator builds, automated test hosts, and SwiftUI previews do not start the production analytics client.
PostHog assigns persistent pseudonymous installation and device identifiers, including a random distinct identifier and device identifier, as well as event and session identifiers. These identifiers can link events from the same installation over time, so this data is pseudonymous rather than anonymous. Vie does not send PostHog your name, email address, Apple account identifier, advertising identifier, or an identifier that connects analytics across devices, and signing in does not connect analytics to an account.
Vie sends a bounded set of app-owned events: app, screen, onboarding, focus-session, blocked-app count, task-state, permission, widget, review, and support-handoff interactions; plan and purchase or restore outcomes; and closed operational diagnostic categories such as integrity-repair or protection-operation outcomes. These events use fixed labels, bounded counts, booleans, and planned durations. They exclude task and goal content, selected-app details, receipt and transaction identifiers, raw errors, and message content.
The PostHog SDK also attaches app and device context such as the app name, app version and build, TestFlight status, device hardware and model, operating system and version, screen dimensions, locale and language, time zone, and Wi-Fi or cellular network state.
A network request to PostHog necessarily transmits your IP address to PostHog's servers. Vie sets PostHog's geo-IP-disable property so PostHog is asked not to enrich events with geographic information.
We have not verified whether PostHog retains an IP address beyond request handling, a fixed provider-side retention period, or the availability and completion of provider-side deletion. This policy therefore does not promise a particular PostHog retention period or provider deletion result.
You can turn off Share usage analytics in Profile under Privacy. Vie saves that choice, tells PostHog to opt out, and closes the analytics client. On later launches while the setting remains off, Vie does not start PostHog. If you turn analytics back on, the persistent pseudonymous identifier stored by the SDK may be reused.
Opting out is prospective: after the setting takes effect, it stops future Vie event capture and SDK operation. It does not retract or delete data PostHog already received, and data already queued or in flight at the time of the change may still complete delivery. Use the contact route below if you want to make a data request.
Vie includes the Sentry SDK, but the production Sentry data-source name (DSN) is blank in the current launch configuration. Sentry therefore does not start and Vie does not transmit crash or diagnostic reports to Sentry in this configuration.
If Vie enables Sentry in a future release, the data sent and the related disclosures will need to be reviewed for that release.
Apple processes App Store purchases, billing details, renewals, and refunds under Apple's terms and privacy practices. Vie does not receive your full payment-card details.
When analytics is enabled, Vie may send PostHog the selected monthly or yearly plan and a bounded purchase or restore outcome, such as attempted, verified, cancelled, pending, failed, or whether restore found Pro access. Vie does not send PostHog App Store receipt data or transaction identifiers.
The Vie app does not upload the contents of a support request in the background. Its support flow prepares a draft for a system mail composer or another email app you control. Vie receives the subject, message, and any details you add only if you choose to send the email. When analytics is enabled, Vie may record only the support handoff channel and local outcome, not the draft or message content.
If you use the contact form on this website, we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you choose to submit. The website sends that submission through Postmark to the Vie team inbox. You can instead email team@langvie.com directly.
Vie uses PostHog for the analytics described above, Apple for App Store purchases and iOS system capabilities, Postmark to deliver website contact-form submissions, and hosting providers to deliver the website. Those providers process information according to their roles and terms.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect Vie or others, to investigate fraud or security incidents, or as part of a financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Data stored by the Vie app remains on your device until you delete individual content where Vie offers that control or remove the app and its local data, subject to Apple's device-backup behavior. Messages you send to Vie become email or support records under our control. PostHog controls storage of analytics it receives; as explained above, we have not verified a fixed PostHog retention period or a provider-side deletion guarantee.
To ask about your information or request access, correction, or deletion, use the contact page linked below or email team@langvie.com. Include enough information for us to understand the request and, if relevant, locate records. Because Vie does not attach your name, email, or Apple account to PostHog analytics, we may not be able to match pseudonymous analytics to you. We will assess requests based on the information we can identify and applicable law; making a request does not itself confirm provider-side deletion.
Vie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can review the request.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Vie or its data practices change. When we do, we will update the date on this page and provide additional notice when appropriate.
